Other Smaller Theatre Venues from Across Wales
The Dolman Theatre in Newport was built in 1924 and is a registered charity which has been at its site now since 1967.
The home of the Newport Playgoers Society, it is very popular with locals and touring companies. It sits 400 with a cafe and bar. The Riverfront in Newport is unique in having a dance studio and recording studio.
Its 493 capacity theatre operates a diverse programme. In Blackwood there is the Blackwood Little Theatre and Blackwood's Miners Institute. In Bridgend is Blaengraw Workmen's Hall with a 250 seater auditorium.
In Monmouth is the Savoy Theatre, whose history goes back to 1794 and current building to 1928 whose cinema is the oldest working in Wales.
The theatre is now run by a charity and a group of volunteers and there are two live shows put on per month. The Blake Theatre holds up to 550 and has a space for small productions with two bars.
